DOES ELLEN G. WHITE COMPLETELY KNOW ABOUT THE 144,000?

This subject of Revelation 7 is doubtless the most frequently discussed Bible subject by Seventh-day Adventists and other Bible students, than any other Biblical truth.  Many theories have been advanced by the denomination, but not one has stood the test without contradiction. Great men of both Biblical and secular knowledge have diligently searched the Bible and proved nothing about who this company is.

…….

Mrs. Ellen G. White was doubtless far more acquainted with this subject than anyone living at this time, for she wrote much about them and had visions of them.  There is no doubt that she also spent much time searching both from the Bible and her own writings, but she has failed to point out the exact company by assembling the references together and clearing the mystery. The question is: Why have all these godly people who earnestly searched for the truth failed to produce any evidence as to who this wonderful company really is?  The answer we give is: Because it was not present truth in their time.

Mrs. Ellen G. White could have given a theory of some kind far more fitting and correct than any other theory ever advanced. She used wisdom and good judgment in leaving out her own opinion. God will make these things known at the appointed time only.  Men may be made to believe a thing for a while, but unless it is true, it cannot last. Thus it would be unwise and a waste of time for one to try to tell who the 144,000 are until the scroll has made a turn and one truth reveals another.  If this study would unmask the mystery and harmonize with the Scriptures and the Spirit of Prophecy, then we must conclude that God’s appointed time for this subject has come.

Mrs. Ellen G. White had received inspiration on this subject, but, like Daniel, was not permitted to know who, how, and when made, until God’s appointed time. The following is a quotation made by her to Elder E.E.  Andross: “I feel confident, Elder Andross, that the brethren in Southern California will find blessing in reviewing the teachings of Scripture concerning the 144,000 and bringing to bear upon these teachings whatever of light there may be in the published writings of the Spirit of Prophecy, and as prayerful consideration is given the matter in all its bearings, I believe that God will make the truth sufficiently clear to make possible the avoidance of needless and unprofitable questions not vital to the salvation of precious souls.”

This subject must be understood someday, for Inspiration makes no useless statements, and it cannot be in the Bible for a trinket.  It must be understood before the number (144,000) is made or it would be of no value. When understood, it will guide the feet of the 144,000 in the straight path just as the first, second, and third angel’s messages have led thousands of souls to Christ.

………

It has been said by some that it matters not whether one understands the subject of the 144,000 or not, so long as he does right. This is certainly true if we DO RIGHT, but how do we know whether we do right or not, except if we understand Bible doctrines? How can we know whether we keep the right Sabbath, or belong to the right church unless we understand that doctrine?  Why is it important to understand Daniel 7, the beast and his image, and many other Bible prophecies?  If we do not understand the subject of the 144,000, we may not be sealed, for it would be worthless to understand it after the sealing, just as it would be of no value to understanding the beast and his image after his work on earth is finished.

The angel’s message of Revelation 7– the angel ascending from the east–is as important as the first, second, and third angel’s messages of Rev. 14:6-11.  It must be understood and given to the people at the right time, as also the mighty angel of Rev. 18:1.  The loud cry must come at a given time.  This angel of Revelation 7, can not be the third angel, for John’s explanation of them differ.  The three angels of Revelation 14 are flying in the midst of heaven, or where the sun stands at noon, but the one of Revelation 7, is ascending from the east, or the rising of the sun.  The message of this angel has never been understood at any time, nor proclaimed by this denomination or any other people, and only theories have been advanced.  It is evident that this truth, as other truths, must come at the right time.

………..

We go back to the angel of Revelation 7, the one in which we are most interested at the present time.  This particular angel is ascending from the east.  “Ascending” here could not mean departing or flying away, but simply coming, or advancing. For example, in the morning while the sun is rising or ascending, the temperature gains in heat as it nears mid-day, just so with this angel that is to seal the 144,000.  The angel was seen coming, but he is taking time.  The sealing cannot begin until after he arrives, for the seal of the living God is in his possession.  If we can locate the time when he arrives we may know the beginning of the sealing time of the 144,000.  Did we know the time when the first second, and third angel’s messages began? Our answer is: Yes.

There is no reason for not knowing the definite time when this angel of Revelation 7 arrives.  If we did not know the time, we would have no message, and if Satan can deceive us from the present truth, he has won with his deceptive powers. John’s prophecy in Revelation 7, of this ascending angel was only a vision of something to come, and the fulfillment of this prophecy was realized when Sister White was given her first vision in 1844, which was a vision of the 144,000.  Read Early Writings, pages 13-20. John prophesied of this movement and the scene of the angel ascending in the east (John’s vision) became a reality in 1844, but the angel is in the east, and we must await his arrival, for when he arrives, the sealing begins.

(The quote is taken from the book The Shepherd’s Rod Volume 1 Section I)

Notes:

Regarding those numbering 144,000, we know that God first gave them to Mrs. Ellen G. White as her first fantasy after her prophecy was conveyed by John the Revelator, but in her delivery, Mrs. Ellen G. White only conveyed briefly, among other things, the announcement of the day and hour of Jesus’ coming to the 144,000 which was like the sound of many waters, then said that the 144,000 were all sealed and their unity was perfect, they stood on a sea of glass, had stars on them. The level of information on each crown differs but everyone is very satisfied, also conveyed by Mrs. Ellen G. White about the temple where it was said that only 144,000 could enter, the names of the 144,000 were engraved in gold letters on the stone table in the temple, then Mrs. Ellen G. White tells of being ordered to return to her life, and promised that if she was faithful she would have the right to visit all the worlds and witness the creation of God’s hands along with 144,000, as did Mrs. Ellen G. White also said that she heard a song that no one could learn except the 144,000. It was only after this fantasy that he had other fantasies.

However, based on this fantasy, Mrs. Ellen G. White did not say who the 144,000 were, how they were collected and where they came from, or whether the number was really that number or was it just symbolic, further writings, until she died did not find adequate explanations, and the most Finally, we only get the words he conveyed to Elder E. E. Andross as we read above, namely:

“I feel confident, Elder Andross, that the brethren in Southern California will find blessing in reviewing the teachings of Scripture concerning the 144,000, and bringing to bear upon these teachings whatever light there may be in the published writings of Sister White. And as prayerful consideration is given to the matter in all its bearings, I believe that God will make the truth sufficiently clear to make possible the avoidance of needless and unprofitable controversy over questions not vital to the salvation of precious souls.

These words were conveyed by Mrs. Ellen G. White in a letter she wrote on December 8, 1914, which was some time before her death on July 16, 1915. Thus, even though the 144,000 was her first imagination, it must be acknowledged that who and how and other questions will be revealed later by God after Mrs. Ellen G. White. Against such things, we also find in the following words of Mrs. Ellen G. White:

It is not His plan that His people shall present something which they have to suppose, which is not taught in the Word. It is not His will that they shall get into controversy over questions which will not help them spiritually, such as, Who is to compose the hundred and forty-four thousand? This those who are the elect of God will in a short time know without question. — Selected Messages book 1, p.174.

I am not at liberty to write to our brethren concerning your future work, for the Lord has not given me this to do. I have received no instruction regarding the place where you should locate, or what should be your future course. Neither can I specify to others what is their duty toward you. —- Letter 96, 1909.

Taking into account Mrs. Ellen G. White’s words, it can be seen that apparently to Mrs. Ellen G. White, God had not revealed all the prophecies regarding various matters regarding the final work such as the place and their number of 144,000. The only advice we got before she died was:

Let us strive with all the power that God has given us to be among the hundred and forty-four thousand. —- Review and Herald, March 9, 1905.

Even though Mrs. Ellen G. White gives a very limited number of 144,000, we can understand from these words that the number of 144,000 represents the Adventists.

From the quotation from the book The Shepherd’s Rod above, we get that “At some point in the future this problem must be understood, because Inspiration does not make meaningless statements, and it cannot be in the Bible for mere decoration”, Then by because of the limited knowledge that Mrs. Ellen G. White had, she then gave instructions:

Then I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to the earth, to unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message. Great power and glory were imparted to the angel, and as he descended, the earth was lightened with his glory. The light which attended this angel penetrated everywhere, as he cried mightily, with a strong voice, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.” The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel, is repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844. The work of this angel comes in at the right time to join in the last great work of the third angel’s message as it swells to a loud cry. And the people of God are thus prepared to stand in the hour of temptation, which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united to fearlessly proclaim the third angel’s message.

Angels were sent to aid the mighty angel from heaven, and I heard voices which seemed to sound everywhere, “Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844. —– Early Writing, p. 277.

From Mrs. Ellen G. White’s words, we can get an answer to the limitations of Mrs. Ellen G. White’s knowledge, including who they are and how their number is 144,000. It turns out that there will still be other messengers who are in the same position as Mrs. Ellen G. White. who will join the message of the three angels in order to help it become a clarion call, and his presence in this quotation is shown to give strength and shed light on various things that previously were still found to be unclear from the truths of the Bible.

The presence of another person is the only way in which we will ultimately be able to implement Mrs. Ellen G. White’s advice above so that we can be included in the number of those 144,000, without whose presence our existence will not be much different from the state of knowledge of Adventists such as pastor E. E. Andross at the time of Mrs. Ellen G. White lived.

Then it says in the book of The Shepherd’s Rod that “It is evident that this truth as with other truths, must come at the right time” and now that our existence is getting closer to the end of the world, this is when we need to find out and know the presence of “the other mighty angel” so that we can strive to be one of the 144,000, together why we need to find out and know his presence is “because when he comes, the sealing (144,000) will begin”.

Even though Mrs. Ellen G. White’s knowledge is limited up to now the church still does not know and receive the light that joins the 3rd angel’s message, but by paying attention to the words of Mrs. Ellen G. White in the book Early Writings Chapter I which, among other things, says that the names of the 144,000 will be engraved in gold letters on the stone table in the holy temple, meaning that from this statement it cannot be concluded that it is just a number, of course the number 144,000 is the actual number, then our question arises:

WHERE DOES THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE ADVENTIST MINISTERS WHO BELIEVE THAT THEIR NUMBER OF 144,000 IS A SYMBOL NOT THE ACTUAL NUMBER FROM? WHO TRIED TO BUILD SUCH AN UNDERSTANDING, WHILE THERE WERE NOT AT ALL FOUND WORDS OR CONCLUSIONS WHICH LIVED TO SUCH IN THE BIBLE OR THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY?

IF THE CHURCH DOES NOT ADVISE MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH TO BE AMONG THE 144,000, THEN BY WHICH WAY CAN PEOPLE BE SAVED IF THE RESULT OF THE CLEANSING IN THE LAODECIAN CONGREGATION WILL BE ONLY THE AMOUNT OF 144,000 MISSED?

As advice for our collective reflection:

No one should claim that he has all the light there is for God’s people. The Lord will not tolerate this. He has said, “I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it.” Even if all our leading men should refuse light and truth, that door will still remain open. The Lord will raise up men who will give the people the message for this time. —– Testimonies To Ministers p. 107.

IF YOU BELIEVE THAT ONLY THROUGH THE LAODECIA ASSEMBLY WILL GOD COMPLETE HIS FINAL WORK, THEN IMMEDIATELY WAKE UP AND IMPROVE YOURSELF BY FINDING MORE ADVANCED INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BY OTHER MIGHTY ANGELS THAT WILL ALSO REVEAL ABOUT THE PROBLEM 144,000, BECAUSE THIS IS THE INSTRUCTION Mrs. ELLEN G. WHITE GIVES, THERE IS NO OTHER WAY IF WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE FINAL RESULT AS WINNER.
