Why did the Davidian split?

Dear fellow Seventh-day Adventist believers, investigators of Bible prophecies, and the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY!

We all salute Rev. Dr. Kuntaraf for his efforts to reveal to us the various reform movements in the world under the name of Davidian Seventh-Day Adventists. What he reveals is true because that is the reality. But we must also understand why all this has happened.

Davidian SDA with its Shepherd’s Rod message as a new light was first established by Br. Victor T. Houteff in 1929. Read the SDA Bible Encyclopedia, p. 328. Under Houteff’s leadership, there was only one Davidian SDA in the United States with its center as prophesied, at Mount Carmel in Waco, Texas. But after Houteff died in 1955, under the new leadership of Mrs. Houteff, it was Mrs. Houteff who dissolved the Davidian SDA in Waco, Texas, after first manipulating the Shepherd’s Rod message. Thus, since 1962 the Davidian SDA have been scattered into various groups in the United States and Canada, after the headquarters in Waco, Texas, was liquidated.

But since 1991 the buildings and land in Waco, Texas, have been reclaimed, and most Davidians have returned there. Most others no longer want to go to Waco, Texas. So, what Rev. Dr. Kuntaraf said was correct.

All that was experienced by the Davidian SDA in the United States had been foreseen by Houteff himself as a servant of God as follows:

“Everything that can be done against God’s message of today will be done with even a greater vengeance than was manifest against Heaven’s message in the days of Christ’s first advent, for the Devil knows that if he loses now, he loses forever — that he is to have no other chance. Unparalleled, therefore, is the urgency that every eleventh-hour church member now quickly and solidly brace himself against the Enemy’s effort to deliver a knockout blow. We must be alert, too, to realize that the blow is to come from surprisingly unsuspected foes — from professed friends of the gospel, who are no less pious than were priests in Christ’s day. It is, moreover, but to be expected that the Adversary will employ every agency possible to prevent the Lord from disclosing to view His now obscure 144,000 first-fruit servants, who are to go gather in the second fruits (Rev. 7:9). The Enemy will try everything conceivable to confuse, becloud, and cover up the Truth, especially on the subject of the 144,000.” — The White House Recruiter, p. 32.

So, what happened since 1962 was a blow that has completely paralyzed the Davidian SDA reform movement until now. For what reason? Because afterward, after the Mount Carmel Centre in Waco, Texas was recaptured in 1991, it turned out that there were still more unsuspected enemies, the same fellow evangelists who were no less loyal than the priests of Christ’s day. Who are they? We must look for them in Waco, Texas, because the Lord’s servant Houteff has confirmed that the prophesied Mount Carmel is found only in Waco, Texas, USA. Houteff as a servant of God does not acknowledge the center of Mount Carmel anywhere else but Waco, Texas.

We will recognize them by their allegiance same as the Jewish priests of Christ’s day. Since the Jewish priests were hostile to Christ during His mission in Palestine, the fellow evangelists who have controlled the Mount Carmel Centre in Waco, Texas from 1991 until now must be watched out for. And it turns out that the Mount Carmel Centre in Waco, Texas is being controlled by the narrow minded fundamentalism, who praise Houteff and his Shepherd’s Rod message alone rather than the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY which is the merged of two messages into one, Mrs. Ellen White with her Spirit of Prophecy and Houteff with his Shepherd’s Rod, fulfilling its prophecy in Revelation 19: 10 which must be the foundation of the faith of the remnant. Read Revelation 12: 17.

As a result of this rigid narrow fundamentalism, we, as the founders of Davidian SDA in Indonesia, while we recognize Waco, Texas, as the sole location of the prophesied Mount Carmel, no longer submit to the leadership whose spirituality is similar to the Jewish priests.

As a result, the Davidian SDA in Indonesia, which was formerly affiliated with the Association of Davidian SDA Centre in Waco, Texas, is now divided. Some of the young people in Jakarta, who are more dependent on Waco because of the great name of their country, have since 2000 separated themselves from our group. Their characteristics are the same as those of the Waco, Texas, which teaches the Shepherd’s Rod message only and little or no longer teaches us of Mrs. White’s Spirit of Prophecy. And to maintain the purity of doctrine, they do not allow talented evangelists or pastors to write anything.

Cursed be the man that trusteth in man

(Jeremiah 17: 5)

“We are warned not to trust in man, nor to make flesh our arm. A curse is pronounced upon all who do this.” – Testimonies to Ministers, p. 367. “God cannot glorify His name through His people while they are leaning upon man and making flesh their arm.” – Testimonies for the Church Vol.5, p 729. “Satan is constantly endeavoring to attract attention to man in the place of God. He leads the people to look to bishops, to pastors, to professors of theology, as their guides, instead of searching the Scriptures to learn their duty for themselves. Then by controlling the minds of these leaders, he can influence the multitudes according to his will.” — Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 4, p. 414.

The statement of the servant of God above seems to contradict what the apostle Paul taught us, which Mrs. White herself has presented as follows:

God has a church, and she has a divinely appointed ministry. – “And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”— Testimonies to Ministers, p. 52.1

After the death of Houteff in 1955, do we no longer need to hope and rely on evangelists, pastors, and teachers, who have built our morale until now? In fact, the words of the servants of God above cannot contradict each other, because they all come from the same Spirit of Truth. Therefore, we must first investigate the history and then learn from experience.

After the Laodicean formed in 1844 with Mrs. White as the servant of God who had built up the body of Christ, 44 years later, the angel of the Laodicean who symbolized the General Conference of SDA and its ministers fell into the sin of rejecting the light. Even though their fall was fully revealed by her, 40 years later, from 1929 until today, they again fell into the same kind of sin, which was finally spewed out of the mouth of Jesus around 1935.

In fact, from that experience, only those who were fully dependent on and relying on God through the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy, who still had their spiritual eyesight tinged, had joined Houteff and his Shepherd’s Rod message from the beginning. But after Houteff himself had died, and after successive Shepherd’s Rod leadership up to the present day had betrayed its duty, it became clear that the prophetic words of the prophet Jeremiah 17: 5 still needs to be obeyed.

Therefore, it is no longer the time for us to continue to depend and rely on the angel of the Laodicean or the General Conference of SDA and its pastors, who are spiritually lukewarm, to think for us. We also no longer need to rely on the powerful evangelists at the Davidian SDA Headquarters in Waco, Texas, USA, who are very rigid and narrow-minded in their understanding, because they have also been revealed as the wise virgin who has guile in their mouths (Revelation 14:5). Nevertheless, as the body of Christ, we will continue to be built up by evangelists, pastors, and teachers who are no longer spiritually lukewarm and still remain within our reach. Who are these people who built the body of Christ in Indonesia at the end of this world? Re-read Ephesians 4: 11- 14, only divinely chosen evangelists, pastors, and teachers are able to build up the body of Christ in the last days of this world. They are recognized not by their public ordination ceremonies in the congregation, nor by their possession of an academic degree in Adventist Theology, but only by their ability to teach us the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY. This is what proves that they are the only ones under the direct guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Furthermore, because the number of Davidian SDA in the world at this time is still very limited, we should not be discouraged, because according to the words of the servant of God, Houteff above, those 144,000 servants of His first fruits are still hidden.

Why did these divisions come to pass?

What has happened to the Davidians after Houteff’s death in 1955 up to the present day is truly confused. While they continue to endeavor to find “many called”, even if it is only a few – the 144,000 chosen ones, their membership does not seem to have increased much. Houteff even says that the 144,000 of God’s chosen, first-fruit servants are still hidden. Hence, it is not surprising that the current number of Davidians is still very limited. Yet the servant of God Mrs. White foresaw this long ago:

“God will arouse His people; if other means fail, heresies will come in among them, which will sift them, separating the chaff from the wheat. The Lord calls upon all who believe His word to awake out of sleep. Precious light has come, appropriate for this time. It is Bible truth, showing the perils that are right upon us. This light should lead us to a diligent study of the Scriptures and a most critical examination of the positions which we hold. God would have all the bearings and positions of truth thoroughly and perseveringly searched, with prayer and fasting. Believers are not to rest in suppositions and ill-defined ideas of what constitutes truth. Their faith must be firmly founded upon the word of God so that when the testing time shall come and they are brought before councils to answer for their faith they may be able to give a reason for the hope that is in them, with meekness and fear.” — 5 Testimony to Ministers, p. 707.3

Since the tares representing the General Conference of SDA and all its faithful followers have already been separated from the wheat, the five wise virgins representing the Davidian SDA, the separation of Mrs. White’s words above will inevitably take place within the wheat group alone, the Davidian SDA. The Lord God will allow various disagreements to occur within His Davidian people symbolized by the wheat, in order to sift out the chaff that exist among them.

God’s people in Indonesia can elate that the chaff has been taken away from the wheat of the mother group since 2000. This means that it will not be too long before there will be candidates for the 144,000 chosen servants of God to come to Indonesia. So, it is clearly understood, that the Lord God has deliberately allowed the Davidian SDA, the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY adherents, to experience division to sift and test their faithfulness. It is so that they will truly understand that where leaders are found to be unfaithful, the Lord God will control His people Himself. This is what the servant of God, Mrs. White says:

“We have been inclined to think that where there are no faithful ministers there can be no true Christians, but this is not the case. God has promised that where the shepherds are not true He will take charge of the flock Himself. God has never made the flock wholly dependent upon human instrumentalities. But the days of purification of the church are hastening on apace. God will have a people pure and true. In the mighty sifting soon to take place we shall be better able to measure the strength of Israel. The signs reveal that the time is near when the Lord will manifest that His fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor.” — Testimonies to the Church Vol.5, p. 80.

Why there is no division in the General Conference Organization

and its subordinate organizations?

Many people are religious only to seek peace and tranquillity. Therefore they prefer peaceful religious organizations. Yet the foundation of true religion in the last days of this world is the Ten Commandments and its complete rule of implementation in the spirit of prophecy. No matter how much a religion develops outwardly in the form of physical development, in the form of church buildings, schools, hospitals, and other social buildings, it will not succeed in saving a single soul, if its religious foundation is incomplete. Therefore, the target that Satan always aims to destroy is the faith of the true religion. For this reason, Satan has succeeded in infiltrating his agents into the Davidian SDA Centre in Waco, Texas, and destroying it from within. This is what the servant of God, Houteff himself had warned long ago as follows:

But why has there been no division of the General Conference of SDAs and its subordinate organizations over the years? Is it because their religious foundation is correct and strong or is it the other way round? In the call for revival and reformation from the servant of God, Mrs. White dated 25 February 1902 (Read our article: CALL FOR DEVELOPMENT AND CHRISTIAN REFORM) the servant of God Mrs. White warned:

“God calls for a spiritual building and a spiritual reformation. If this is not done, then those who are lukewarm will continue to grow more and more disgusting before the Lord, until one day He will refuse to recognize them as His children. A revival and a reformation must take place, under the ministration of the Holy Spirit. Revival and reformation are two different things. Revival signifies a renewal of spiritual life, a quickening of the powers of mind and heart, a resurrection from spiritual death. Reformation signifies a reorganization, a change in ideas and theories, habits and practices. Reformation will not bring forth the good fruit of righteousness unless it is connected with the revival of the Spirit. Revival and reformation are to do their appointed work, and in doing this work they must blend.” – Review & Herald February 25, 1902, par. 8.

Pay close attention to the words of the servant of God above, which read: If this (spiritual building and spiritual reformation) is not done, then those lukewarm (angels of the Laodicean and its pastors) will continue to grow more and more disgusting before God.

History proves that because the General Conference of SDAs continues to reject the new light of the angel’s message of Revelation 18: 1 to unite it with Mrs. White’s third angel’s message, they have lost the great light of the Holy Spirit (THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY of Revelation 19:10) that would have illuminated the earth with its truth, which would have guided them to edification and reformation. As a result, they have never revived and reformed, so their spiritual condition, which was already lukewarm, has now grown even more disgusting before God. All of this could be seen from the Sabbath School lessons and sermons, which are generally no longer of good quality, and no longer worthy of salvation. Not a single prophecy has been able to be revealed in writing with truth and certainty for us, while Mrs. White’s Spirit of Prophecy is no longer much understood.

In such a spiritual state, it is not surprising that Satan no longer wants to disturb them. Nor does the Lord God let any disputes among them, which would sift them, to separate the chaff from the wheat, for there is neither chaff nor wheat left in their midst. For they are all but tares.

Therefore, do not think that the Laodicean which represents the Seventh-day Adventist Church, already has angels (General Conference of SDAs and pastors) who are no longer lukewarm in their spirituality, so Satan is no longer able to divide them. In fact, Satan no longer wants to disturb them, because spiritually they have already dead. The servant of God Mrs. White said:

The condition of the church at this time is pointed out in the Saviour’s words in the Revelation:

“Thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.” And to those who refuse to arouse from their careless security, the solemn warning is addressed: “If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.” Revelation 3:1, 3.” – The Great Controversy, pp. 309, 310.

“What greater deception can come upon human minds than a confidence that they are right when they are all wrong! The message of the True Witness finds the people of God in a sad deception, yet honest in that deception. They know not that their condition is deplorable in the sight of God. While those addressed are flattering themselves that they are in an exalted spiritual condition, the message of the True Witness breaks their security by the startling denunciation of their true condition of spiritual blindness, poverty, and wretchedness. The testimony, so cutting and severe, cannot be a mistake, for it is the True Witness who speaks, and His testimony must be correct.” — 3 Testimonies of Ministry, p.252.4.

“In my last vision I was shown that even this decided message of the True Witness had not accomplished the design of God. The people slumber on in their sins. They continue to declare themselves rich and having need of nothing. Many inquire: Why are all these reproofs given? Why do the Testimonies continually charge us with backsliding and with grievous sins? We love the truth; we are prospering; we are in no need of these testimonies of warning and reproof.” – 3 Testimonies of Ministry, p. 254.2.

“I have been shown that the greatest reason why the people of God are now found in this state of spiritual blindness is that they will not receive correction.” – 3 Testimonies to the Church Vol.3, p. 253 – 255.

Conclusion

In order to build up the body of Christ, John the Revelator and Mrs. White wrote as follows:

“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.” — Revelation 18: 1.

“Then I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to the earth, to unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message” The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel, is repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844.” — Early Writings, p. 277.

If the message of the third angel, who represents Mrs. White’s Spirit of Prophecy, had been fully understood, the message of the angel of Revelation 18: 1 above would not have been rejected until now. It is the combination of these messages that has produced the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY, fulfilling its prophecy in Revelation 19: 10, which is now illuminating the earth, beginning in our Seventh-day Adventist Church.
