Failures of the
General Conference of 1888 in Minneapolis, USA, and its result today

First of all let it be known, that the history of the New Testament has been divided in the book of Revelation into 7 (seven) periods of Churches. The Ephesian Church period is found in the first century, and the Laodicean Church period is the last in the time of the end ever since 1844. We are now living in a time close to the end of the time of the end itself. It means that just in this time the prophetic word in Amos 3 : 7 should have been fulfilled. And the end time prophets should have come upon the stage of history, and all the secret things in the Bible would have been revealed in the so-called the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY.  

Since the end time prophets are not only Mrs. E. G. White, we are yet to find another one of the prophets to come up after her time upon the stage of our history. We are, therefore, to depend not only upon her message of the Spirit of Prophecy, but also upon the next message of the Shepherd’s Rod by Bro. Victor T. Houteff. Those two messages are now united in the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY of Revelation 19 : 10 (margin). Thus we are to understand that the life of the Laodicean Church in this time of the end should have been observed in the all prophecies of the Old Testament prophets, in the book of Revelation, and through all the parables of Jesus in the New Testament, which have been interpreted and revealed in the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY.     

Now, since the book of Revelation ever since the beginning belongs only to the people of the time of the end, specifically to the Laodiceans or Seventh day Adventists, let us again read carefully Revelation 3 : 14 – 22.  Remember, that it is the Revelation from the Lord Jesus Himself to the angel of the Church of the Laodiceans. And not directly to the Church of the Laodiceans.   

The very first charge from Jesus against the angel of Laodicea is : “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot : I would thou wert cold or hot.” Verse 15.  

Such a charge obliges us to go to find their historical fulfillment in the books of the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY, which is the combination of the message of the third angel of Revelation 14 and the message of the angel of Revelation 18 : 1 that is now enlightening the earth, beginning in our churches.  

N O T E ! The Laodicean Church according to her prophecy was first established in the time of the end in 1844, whereas the angel of the Church of the Laodiceans or the General Conference of SDA was born in 1863.   

Due to the fact that it was the angel of the Church and not the Church herself that was charged “spiritually lukewarm”, then the prophecy of Revelation 3 : 15, 16, should have met its fulfillment in the history of the General Conference of SDA held in 1888 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.  

Therefore if the Minneapolis Conference of the General Conference of SDA in 1888 could be deemed successful, then why did Mrs. White as the voice of God telling us conversely here below :  

“An unwillingness to yield up preconceived opinions, and to accept this truth, lay at the foundation of a large share of the opposition manifested at Minneapolis against the Lord’s message through Brethren [E. J.] Waggoner and [A. T.] Jones. By exciting that opposition Satan succeeded in shutting away from our people, in a great measure, the special power of the Holy Spirit that God longed to impart to them……………….. The light that is to lighten the whole earth with its glory was resisted, and by the action of our own brethren has been in a great degree kept away from the world.” – 1 Selected Messages, p. 234, 235.  

“The prejudices and opinions that prevailed at Minneapolis are not dead by any means; the seeds sown there in some hearts are ready to spring into life and bear a like harvest. The tops have been cut down, but the roots have never been eradicated, and they still bear their unholy fruit to poison the judgment, pervert the perceptions, and blind the understanding of those with whom you connect, in regard to the message and the messengers.” – Testimonies to Ministers, p. 467.

Several years later Elder A.G. Daniells wrote in his book entitled : CHRIST OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, in the FOREWORD he said :

“At a meeting of the members of the Ministerial Association Advisory Council, held in Des Moines, Iowa, Oct, 22, 1924, it was  —

“Voted, That Elder Daniells be asked to arrange for a compilation of the writings of Mrs. E.G. White on the subject of Justification by Faith.”

With the co-operation of my associates in the office of the Ministerial Association, I undertook the task designated. — Christ Our Righteousness, p. 5.

We have quoted from the book two statements here below,

“The message of Righteousness by Faith came clearly and fully into the open at the General Conference held at Minneapolis, Minn., in November, 1888. It was made the one great subject of study in the devotional part of the Conference. It would seem that the presentation of the subject had been anticipated, and that there was an understanding that it would receive a thorough discussion in the Conference.” – Christ Our Righteousness, p. 41. (Copyrighted 1941).  

“How sad, how deeply regrettable, it is that this message of righteousness in Christ should, at the time of its coming, have met with opposition on the part of earnest, well-meaning men in the cause of God! The message has never been received, nor proclaimed, nor given free course as it should have been in order to convey to the church the measureless blessings that were wrapped within it. The seriousness of exerting such an influence is indicated through the reproofs that were given.” –  ibid. p. 47

Please be careful, dear Brothers and Sisters, because there are yet ministers who are willing deliberately to mislead you into thinking that the message, “Justification by Faith”, was later received with full remorse on the part of those who opposed it in 1888. Let it be understood that the statement by Elder Daniells above had been copyrighted in 1941, which means that up to 1941 the leaders of the General Conference of SDA still admitted their failures in the Minneapolis Conference in 1888.

Whereas the full message of the angel of Revelation 18 : 1 through Bro. Victor T. Houteff had come, and had been delivered to the angel of the Church in 1930, which is some ten years earlier than the year when the book was copyrighted. But why was the message not as yet received up to now ?

The servant of the Lord had ever since warned, that though “The tops have been cut down, but the roots have never been eradicated, and they still bear their unholy fruit to poison the judgment, pervert the perceptions, and blind the understanding of those with whom you connect, in regard to the message and the messengers.” – Testimonies to Ministers, p. 467.

Let it always be kept in mind, therefore, that due to their unwillingness to receive the message of “Justification by faith,” it then would be manifest in their failures to have the Law of the Ten Commandment of God be implemented according to its Rules of implementation in the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY. This is to prove that they as angel of the Church of the Laodiceans were fallen so deep in the sin against the Spirit of Truth, from which there is no more chance for them to repent. They have been spewed out of Jesus’ mouth forever and ever more.   

The result of opposing
the message by the General Conference in 1888 

Four years after the failures of the General Conference in 1888, the Lord God had instructed His servant, Mrs. White, to write in the Review and Herald of February 25, 1902 as follows :

The Call for a
Spiritual revival and Reformation
(Review and Herald, Feb. 25, 1902)

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.’

“I am instructed to say that these words are applicable to Seventh-day Adventist churches in their present condition. The love of God has been lost, and this means the absence of love for one another. Self, self, self is cherished, and is striving for the supremacy. How long is this to continue? Unless there is a re-conversion, there will soon be such a lack of godliness, that the church will be represented by the barren fig tree. Great light has been given to her. She has had abundant opportunity for bearing much fruit. But selfishness has come in, and God says, ‘I ….. will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.’

“Jesus looked upon the pretentious, fruitless fig tree, and with mournful reluctance pronounced the words of doom. And under the curse of an offended God, the fig tree withered away. God help His people to make an application of this lesson while there is still time.

“Just before His ascension, Christ said to His disciples, ‘All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.’ God’s people today are not fulfilling this commission as they should. Selfishness prevents them from receiving these words in their solemn significance.

“In many hearts there seems to be scarcely a breath of spiritual life. This makes Me very sad. I fear that aggressive warfare against the world, the flesh, and the devil has not been maintained. Shall we cheer on, by half-dead Christianity, the selfish, covetous spirit of the world, sharing its ungodliness and smiling on its falsehood? Nay! By the grace of God let us be steadfast to the principles of truth, holding firm to the end the beginning of our confidence. We are to be ‘not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.’ One is our Master, even Christ. To Him we are to look. From Him we are to receive our wisdom. By His grace we are to preserve our integrity, standing before God in meekness and contrition, and representing Him to the world.

“Sermons have been in great demand in our churches. The members have depended upon pulpit declamations instead of on the Holy Spirit. Uncalled for and unused, the spiritual gifts bestowed on them have dwindled into feebleness. If the ministers would go forth into new fields, the members would be obliged to bear responsibilities, and by use their capabilities would increase.

“God brings against ministers and people the heavy charge of spiritual feebleness, saying, ‘I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked; I counsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayest see.’

“God calls for a spiritual revival and a spiritual reformation. Unless this takes place, those who are lukewarm will continue to grow more abhorrent to the Lord, until He will refuse to acknowledge them as His children.

“A revival and a reformation must take place under the ministration of the Holy Spirit. Revival and reformation are two different things. Revival signifies a renewal of spiritual life, a quickening of the powers of mind and heart, a resurrection from spiritual death. Reformation signifies reorganization, a change in ideas and theories, habits and practices. Reformation will not bring forth the good fruit of righteousness unless it is connected with the revival of the Spirit. Revival and reformation are to do their appointed work, and in doing this work they must blend.

 ‘Ye are not your own; for ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.’ ‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.’ Christ gave His life for a fallen race, leaving us an example that we should follow in His steps. To him who does this will be spoken the words of approval, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; ….. enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.’

“The word of the Lord never represses activity. It increases man’s usefulness by guiding his activities in the right direction. The Lord does not leave man without an object of pursuit. He places before him an immortal inheritance, and gives him ennobling truth, that he may advance in a safe and sure path, in pursuit of that which is worth the consecration of his highest capabilities, — a crown of everlasting life.

“Man will increase in power as he follows on to know the Lord. As he endeavors to reach the highest standard, the Bible is as a light to guide his footsteps homeward. In that word he finds that he is a joint heir with Christ to an eternal treasure. The Guidebook points him to the un-searchable riches of heaven. By following on to know the Lord, he is securing never-ending happiness. Day by day the peace of God is his reward, and by faith he sees a home of everlasting sunshine, free from all sorrow and disappointment. God directs his footsteps, and keeps him from falling.

“God loves His church. There are tares mingled with the wheat, but the Lord knows His own. ‘Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not deviled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before My Father, and before the angels. He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.’

“Shall not the counsel of Christ have an effect on the churches?  Why halt, ye who know the truth, between two opinions?  ‘If the Lord be God, follow Him: but if Baal, then follow him.’ Christ’s followers have no right to stand on the ground of neutrality. There is more hope of an open enemy than of one who is neutral.

“Let the church respond to the words of the prophets, ‘Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people:  but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and His glory shall be seen upon thee.’

“God’s people have lost their first love. They must now repent and make steady advancement in the path of holiness. God’s purposes reach to every phase of life. They are immutable, eternal; and at the time appointed they will be executed. For a time it may seem that Satan has all the power in his hands; but our trust is in God. When we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us, and will work with mighty power to accomplish His gracious purposes.

“God rebukes His people for their sins, that He may humble them, and lead them to seek His face. As they reform, and His love revives in their hearts, His loving answers will come to their requests. He will strengthen them in reformatory action, lifting up for them a standard against the enemy. His rich blessing will rest upon them and in bright rays they will reflect the light of heaven. Then a multitude not of their faith, seeing that God is with His people, will unite with them in serving the Redeemer.” – E. G. White in Review and Herald, February 25, 1902.

If only the angel of Laodicea or the General Conference of SDA and all the ministers of the gospel would willingly admit their failures ever since the 1888 conference in Minneapolis USA, they would have received the Call for a spiritual Revival and Reformation of 1902, and we would have been revived and reformed ever since long ago, for the revival and reformation should have begun with the General Conference leadership themselves in the USA.

But where is the fact now ? All sure words of prophecies of the Old Testament prophets and the book of Revelation, even the parables of Jesus in the New Testament, all of which have now been revealed in our midst through the end time prophets of Amos 3 : 10, are still tightly concealed from us. Whereas those sure words of prophecies and the parables of Jesus will no more return unfulfilled to the Lord, for God Himself have confirmed through prophet Isaiah in the following words :

“For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and retuneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater : So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth : it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” – Isaiah 55 : 10, 11. 

How is the Revival
and Reformation to be Realized 

Summary of the Call for a spiritual Revival and Reformation by Mrs. White mentioned above could be seen as follows :

A SPIRITUAL REVIVAL & A SPIRITUAL REFORMATION

Review and Herald, Feb. 25, 1902

Although no SDA churches in the world today would ever be willing to admit their failures ever since the 1888 General Conference in Minneapolis, USA, they are bound by the law of God to revive and reform according to the message sent them by the servant of the Lord, Mrs. White.  And if they yet persist to defy order to revive and reform, they would then be spewed out of Jesus’ mouth.

Due to the fact, however, that Sister White has died in 1915, whereas her call for the spiritual revival and reformation was not as yet realized. Was it possible for the angel of the Church of the Laodiceans in their fallen condition to accomplish by themselves the work of revival and reformation?

Every rational being of Seventh day Adventist should have understood that it is absolutely impossible for the Lord to entrust the work to the angel of Laodicea as long as they are themselves lacking the message sent to them in 1888. This is the reason why the Lord had to send to them again the message of Revelation 18 : 1 through  Bro. Victor T. Houteff. And then to let him u n i t e his message of the angel of Revelation 18 : 1 with the message of the third angel of Revelation 14 by Mrs. White into the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY of Revelation 19 : 10 (margin). Then could the earth be enlightened, beginning with our own Church of Laodicea. To this end Mrs. White wrote :

“Then I saw another mighty angel (of Revelation 18 : 1) commissioned to descend to the earth, to unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message. Great power and glory were imparted to the angel, and as he descended, the earth was lightened with his glory………………… This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844.”– Early Writings, p. 277. (in brackets from the writer)

With the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY of those two messages of the angels mentioned above now available in our midst, the Call for a spiritual revival and a spiritual reformation could be signified as follows :

The process of revival is specified unto details in the messages of the Spirit of Prophecy and the Shepherd’s Rod. And have been summarized in the following graphic :

These all could be read thoroughly in the books of THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY.

Whereas the process of reformation or re-organization is specified by Bro. Victor T. Houteff in the Leviticus of Davidian SDA. That is, the General Conference of SDA should have been re-organized according to the rules of implementation as those stipulated in the Leviticus of Davidian SDA.  

This is how Bro. Victor T. Houteff and his followers had accomplished the re-organization of the General Conference of SDA into the General Association of Davidian SDA in Waco, Texas, USA in 1935.

And since the Lord could not possibly be represented by two organizations at the same time on earth, He should have spewed out the one, and keep on retaining the other. The servant of the Lord Mrs. White further said :

“A revival and a reformation must take place under the ministration of the Holy Spirit. Revival and reformation are two different things. Revival signifies a renewal of spiritual life, a quickening of the powers of mind and heart, a resurrection from spiritual death. Reformation signifies reorganization, a change in ideas and theories, habits and practices. Reformation will not bring forth the good fruit of righteousness unless it is connected with the revival of the Spirit. Revival and reformation are to do their appointed work, and in doing this work they must blend. So was the reformation process accomplished, not only as those directed in the Leviticus of the Davidian SDA, but also in the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY, and then summarized here as follows :

Is there yet a way out for the angel of the
Laodiceans and his staunch followers to repent ?

The Lord Himself gives us the answer through His own mouthpiece in the following words :

“Let the church respond to the words of the prophets, ‘Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and His glory shall be seen upon thee.’

“God’s people have lost their first love. They must now repent and make steady advancement in the path of holiness. God’s purposes reach to every phase of life. They are immutable, eternal; and at the time appointed they will be executed. For a time it may seem that Satan has all the power in his hands; but our trust is in God. We have to know, that God’s people of this time of the end would always be identified as the law abiding people. From the prophecy of Isaiah 8 : 20 they would be identified as those who always speak according to the Law and the testimony. The Law is the basic law of the Decalogue, and the testimony, which has been developed up to this time of the end, is the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY.

Whereas through Revelation 12 : 17 and 19 : 10 they have been identified as the remnant of the seed of the woman. The woman = the Church; the Son = Jesus Christ; the seed of the woman = the Christians; and the remnant of her seed = the remnant of Christians now living in this time of the end.  Mrs. White called them by the name, “the remnant Church”. These remnants are the same people of those prophesied by prophet Isaiah, who are always to be identified as the law abiding people.

Please remember, that without having obeyed all the commandments of the Law according to their Rules of implementations in the SPIRIT OF PRPHECY, no one of us could ever be deemed worthy of salvation. That is, no one of all of us could ever be found thoroughly free from sin.                                     

The Church of the Laodiceans are the people with a special task to do to proclaim to the world “the Laodicean message” of the third angel of Revelation 14, which is the Judgment upon all the people of God ever since the beginning, which is now going on in the heavenly court of justice in the heavenly sanctuary ever since October 22, 1844. It is the judgment to purify the people of God from sin as those prophesied by prophet Daniel in Daniel 8 : 14 : “And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days, then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.”

We must be purified before the Lord to pour upon us His Spirit of Latter Rain on the day of the second Pentecost in the future. That under the power of the latter Rain we should have accomplished the proclamation of the Laodicean message unto the entire world before the close of probation in the heavenly court of justice in the heavenly sanctuary.   

Thus after the close of probation all the people of God would have been thoroughly ready to welcome Jesus and His holy angels to arrive from the far off at His second coming. They all would have been powerful enough to withstand all the deadly light of Jesus’ coming and His angels at that glorious moment.  

Therefore, as long as the probation in the heavenly sanctuary is still open,  the angel of Laodicea and all their staunch followers, every one of them personally could have repented of all their sins. They would never more be received as angel of Laodicea, but only personally as a Laodicean. All of us will at last be welcomed in the Kingdom of God in the Palestine, no more as angel of Laodicea and his staunch followers, but as members of the wise virgins without guile in the mouths. No more angel of Laodicea could ever be found there, for they have been spewed out of Jesus’ mouth, even most of their followers to follow suit. They have been spewed out for good and for ever and ever more.  

The servant of the Lord, Mrs. White, in her last words of the Call for the spiritual revival and reformation, then said :                                            

“God calls for a spiritual revival and a spiritual reformation. Unless this takes place, those who are lukewarm will continue to grow more abhorrent to the Lord, until He will refuse to acknowledge them as His children.” — Review and Herald, February 25, 1902.

 The requirement that should
be met before the angel of Laodicea and his diehard followers could repent   

“For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.” — Matthew 11 : 13.

The prophets mentioned above are the Old Testament prophets, and the law is the ceremonial law of Moses. All those are found in the Old Testament. Let it therefore, be remembered that during the Old Testament era the Old Testament prophets and the ceremonial law of Moses had provided for us all the prophecies of the Bible. And just in this time of the end have them all interpreted and revealed for us to meet the prophecy of Amos 3 : 7 : “SURELY THE LORD GOD WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING BUT HE REVEALED HIS SECRETS UNTO HIS SERVANTS THE PROPHETS.”  

Therefore, although Christian world today in this time of the end do not know much more of the prophets and their prophecies which have been revealed in the so-called THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY, we should be fully convinced that they are the secret things of the prophecies of the Old Testament prophets and the book of Revelation, and the parables of Jesus of the New Testament, that have been interpreted and revealed in the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY. And all those things should be obeyed for they are the Rules of implementations of the basic Law of God. Please read Leviticus 29 : 29.  

One of the Old Testament prophets, who were much implicated in our cases, in this time of the end, was Isaiah the prophet. This prophet lived sometime between 600 – 500 years before Christ. The very significant statement from him that should ever be kept in minds of all modern people of today is : “TO THE LAW AND TO THE TESTIMONY WHO TALK NOT ACCORDING TO THIS WORD, IT IS BECAUSE THERE IS NO LIGHT IN THEM.” – ISAIAH 8 : 20.  

The Law and the testimony are the foundation of the faith of all people of God of all time. The Law is the basic law of the kingdom of heaven, and the testimony contains the rules of implementation of the basic law. The Author of the Law is God the Father, whereas the Author of the testimony of all the rules of implementation of the law is Jesus Christ. In the New Testament the testimony is also known as the testimony of Jesus Christ, and after all mysteries of prophecies and the parables of Jesus be revealed the name was then promoted into THE SPIRIT PROPHECY. And this is the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY mentioned in the Revelation 19 : 10 (margin).

One more prophet of the Old Testament whose prophecies are very important for us is prophet Daniel. The angel Gabriel had ever been commissioned to go to Daniel to say as follows :  

“Go thy way Daniel for all the words are closed and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, made white, and tried, but the wicked shall do wickedly, and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.” Daniel 12 : 4, 9 – 10.

We all know that the book of Daniel was ever closed and sealed only till the time of the end. Since we are now living in the time of the end, then the book of Daniel and its complement the book of Revelation should have been revealed in the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY by the end time prophets. Thus it is, that the Christians of this time of the end who still ignore the book of Daniel, they would have ignored the book of Revelation as well as also all the books of other prophecies of the Old Testament  prophets. They would unavoidably be categorized as the wicked for none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.

Revelation 3 : 14 – 20 predicted how the General Conference of SDA opposed the message of the angel of Revelation 18 : 1 the first time it came in 1888 in Minneapolis, USA

John the Revelator said :

“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then, because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing: and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked” – Revelation 3 : 14 – 17.    

Due to the opposition against the message in 1888, that the spiritual condition of the General Conference of SDA and all its ministers as the angel of the Laodicean Church ever since fell spiritually into the so-called neither cold nor hot, or lukewarm. Most of the Laodicean Church then follow suit. Nevertheless, the opportunity for them to repent is still open, because the Lord Jesus again offered them a way out in the following words,

“I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” – Revelation 3 : 18 – 20.  

The offer of gold tried in the fire, and the white raiment, and the eye salve, is actually none other than the Call for a spiritual Revival and a spiritual Reformation as those documented in the Review and Herald, of February 25, 1902 by the servant of the Lord, Mrs. Ellen G. White. However, since Mrs. White herself died in 1915 before the Call was realized, we should have understood that the next message of the angel of Revelation 18 : 1 should have come to unite with the message of the third angel of Revelation 14 to enlighten the earth, as those stated in the book Early Writings, p. 277.  

Therefore, when the angel of Revelation 18 : 1 came again through Bro. Victor T. Houteff in 1929 to have the Call for a spiritual revival and a spiritual reformation realized in our midst, then was the Call for a spiritual revival and a spiritual reformation completely delivered to the General Conference of SDA as the angel of the Laodicean Church.  And as the Call for a spiritual reformation successfully re-organized the General Conference of SDA  in Waco, Texas in 1935, then ever since was the angel of Laodicea spewed out of Jesus’ mouth for good and for evermore. The whole heaven and all the habitation of heavenly beings ever since would no more acknowledge the angel of Laodicea and all his ministers on earth as their fellow citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven. 

How is the f a t e of the diehard followers
of the angel of Laodicea in the time of the end ?

As long as the probation in the heavenly court of justice has not as yet closed, then everyone of us either ministers or ordinary members, either the wicked ones who are yet in the dark of the prophecies of Daniel and the Revelation, or those leaders who have been deemed worthy of salvation due to their services,. The Lord Jesus is still offering us gold tried in the fire, white raiment, and the eye-salve. But for you and me to have that offer to become ours, we must first shun the angel of Laodicea and their leadership. Prophet Isaiah ever since long ago had shown us the way out as follows:

“WHOM SHALL HE TEACH KNOWLEDGE? AND WHOM SHALL HE MAKE TO UNDERSTAND DOCTRINE? THEM THAT ARE WEANED FROM THE MILK, AND DRAWN FROM THE BREASTS. FOR PRECEPT MUST BE UPON PRECEPT, PRECEPT UPON PRECEPT; LINE UPON LINE, LINE UPON LINE; HERE A LITTLE AND THERE A LITTLE: FOR WITH STAMMERING LIPS AND ANOTHER TONGUE WILL H E SPEAK TO THIS PEOPLE.

TO WHOM HE SAID THIS IS THE REST WHEREWITH YE MAY CAUSE THE WEARY TO REST; AND THIS IS THE REFRESHING: YET THEY WOULD NOT HEAR.

BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD WAS UNTO THEM PRECEPT UPON PRECEPT, PRECEPT UPON PRECEPT; LINE UPON LINE, LINE UPON LINE; HERE A LITTLE AND THERE A LITTLE; THAT THEY MIGHT GO, AND FALL BACKWARD, AND BE BROKEN, AND SNARED, AND TAKEN.“

“WHEREFORE HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD, YE SCORNFUL MEN, THAT RULE THIS PEOPLE WHICH IS IN JERUSALEM.” — ISAIAH 28 : 9 – 13.

Since the prophecy of Isaiah as well as all other prophecies of the Old Testament prophets, have just met their fulfillment in the time of the end, then we may be sure that this prophecy of Isaiah 28 should have applied specifically for us. Then let it, therefore, be interpreted as follows :

1. “Knowledge and doctrine” mentioned in that prophecy would  unavoidably mean the Law as the basic Law of God, and the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY, which is the combination of the two messages : of the third angel of Revelation 14 by Mrs. White and of the angel of Revelation 18 : 1 by Bro. Victor T. Houteff.  
2. To the Laodiceans or Seventh day Adventists, who have ever been born again / or baptized by their mothers / ministers of the angel of Laodicean Church ; if they are seriously in need to have the “knowledge and doctrine” understood, they must be weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts of those mothers or ministers who have ever baptized them into the Church. This means that they must stop to listen to the ministers and their sermons and to the Organization and their Sabbath School lessons, which have been thoroughly out of date and lost of power to save. Let them keep in mind the prophetic words of Zechariah when he said : “NOT BY MIGHT NOR BY POWER, BUT BY MY SPIRIT, SAITH THE LORD OF HOSTS.” — ZECHARIAH 4 : 6. Ministers and their might have produced sermons from the pulpit, and Organization of the angel of Laodicea and their power have regularly provided for the Church the Sabbath School lessons. But by “MY SPIRIT”, said the Lord of Hosts, THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY has now been provided us in the golden bowl of the pictorial prophecy of Zechariah chapter 4.  
3. The Law of God, the Bible, and the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY would be thoroughly taught to them, for precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line; here a little and there a little. That the end time history of the Church of Laodicea would be thoroughly revealed through all the prophecies of the prophets, and through the book of Revelation, even though all the parables of Jesus.
4. There shall be someone to come upon the stage of history of this time of the end to carry out the task to speak to this people. Were the knowledge and doctrine spoken to this people being the Law and the Testimony of Jesus, which is the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY, and then this people must be none other than the Laodiceans of this time of the end.  And the one who spoke to this people must be a messenger of the Lord, either Mrs. White and her Spirit of Prophecy or Bro. Victor T. Houteff and his message of the Shepherd’s Rod.
5. FOR WITH STAMMERING LIPS AND ANOTHER TONGUE WILL H E SPEAK TO THIS PEOPLE. TO WHOM HE SAID THIS IS THE REST WHEREWITH YE MAY CAUSE THE WEARY TO REST; AND THIS IS THE REFRESHING : YET THEY WOULD NOT HEAR.                        With stammering lips and another tongue are enough to identify Bro. Victor T. Houteff as the designated messenger of God for the Laodiceans of this time of the end. Bro. Victor T. Houteff was a naturalized citizen of the USA, and he was of the Bulgarian origin. The Shepherd’s Rod message ever since the beginning was proclaimed by him in English.
6. The Spirit of Prophecy of the third angel message of Revelation 14 and the Shepherd’s Rod message of the angel of Revelation 18 : 1, both are now united in the so-called THE SIPIRIT OF PROPHECY of Revelation 19 : 10 (margin). They contain all the Rules of implementation of the Law of the Ten Commandments. To all the Laodiceans of this time of the end Bro. Houteff said :  THIS IS THE REST WHEREWITH YE MAY CAUSE THE WEARY TO REST; AND THIS IS THE REFRESHING : YET THEY WOULD NOT HEAR.  Who are those who would not hear in this time of the end??
7. They should be none other than the lukewarm angel of the Laodicea, to whom prophet Isaiah said :”WHEREFORE HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD, YE SCORNFUL MEN, THAT RULE THIS PEOPLE WHICH  IS  IN JERUSALEM.” — ISAIAH 28 : 14.                                                                     Whether they like to hear or not to hear, the Law of the Kingdom must be observed. Sin is the transgression of the Law, and the wage of sin is death. “Let the ministers and people remember that gospel  truth  ruins if it does not  save.” — Testimonies, vol. 5, p. 134.                                                  Prophet Isaiah then further said : BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD WAS UNTO THEM PRECEPT UPON PRECEPT, PRECEPT UPON PRECEPT;  LINE UPON LINE, LINE UPON LINE ; HERE A LITTLE AND THERE A LITTLE ; THAT THEY MIGHT GO, AND FALL BACKWARD, AND BE BROKEN, AND SNARED, AND TAKEN.“ — ISAIAH  28 :  13.

With the General Conference of SDA opposing the message of Righteousness by Faith in 1888, they seemed no more in need of the message of revival  and reformation to take place in their midst. They are even no more in need of the gold tried in the fire, the white raiment, and the eye-salve, to cover up their poverty and nakedness, and even their blindness.  

Concluded

Jesus in His great mercy bade us through His servant to look back to the very historical background of our fall in the 1888, and said :

“The Lord in His great mercy sent a most precious message to His people through Elders Waggoner and Jones. This message was to bring more prominently before the world the uplifted Saviour, the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. It presented justification through faith in the Surety; it invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ, which is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God. Many had lost sight of Jesus……………. This is the message that God commanded to be given to the world. It is the third angel’s message, which is to be proclaimed with a loud voice, and attended with the outpouring of His Spirit in a large measure………..

“For years the church has been looking to man and expecting much from man, but not looking to Jesus, in whom our hopes of eternal life are centered. Therefore God gave to His servants a testimony that presented the truth as it is in Jesus, which is the third angel’s message, in clear, distinct lines.” – Testimonies to Ministers, pp. 91, 92 & 93.  

For years the Laodiceans were looking to their “angel of Laodicea” and expecting much from him, but not looking to Jesus. And now is the time, as long as the probation in the heavenly court of justice is not as yet closed,  we are again bidden of the Lord to repent of all our failures in the past.

And to that end, we must shun the man and stop expecting much from him, but to look to Jesus in whom our hopes of eternal life are centered.
